Suna Wellbeing is a sister to Suna Pilates, and together we focus on empowering people to create holistic wellbeing - calm minds, strong bodies, balanced emotion. 

In our modern lifestyles, far too often we prioritise 'busy' and 'should' or 'have to' over what makes us truly well in ourselves. We forget that our body, our mind  and our time are all we really own in this world, and all we can control.

If we are well in our body, calm in our selves and have a healthy sense of self esteem and prioritising ourselves, we can face any challenges, and get far more enjoyment out of daily life and adventures.

Our Wellbeing Story

Everything we do at Suna Wellbeing has been driven from our own journeys and our own experience in improving our wellbeing. We all have different stories, but there’s a common theme in our desire to live happy, healthy and fun lives with balance and purpose and to help others do the same.
 

It started with exercise

Our wellbeing journey started with exercise - Pilates - and with founder Susie’s need to fix the persistent and sometimes debilitating pain in her body from numerous snowboarding accidents. She tried Yoga, but that didn’t work and then moved onto Pilates. Fixing her posture using Pilates completely fixed the pain and started a life long wellbeing journey and path to helping others.
 
Suna Pilates opened in 2000 and has helped thousands and thousands of people re-instate correct posture, fix pain and build strong and fit bodies that not only look great but age well. We have many customers who started with us in the early days still with us and going strong today!  But the story only really began with exercise because while exercise is vital for mental and physical wellbeing we realised pretty early on that there was much more we could do to  really change overall wellbeing.
 

Nutrition and Holistic Health

Susie threw herself full time into understanding both holistic health and how nutrition could help overall wellbeing and completed her internship with one of America’s top holistic nutritionists Dr Cliff Oliver a number of years ago.  She also went on to train as a Nutritionist and Holistic Lifestyle coach - becoming an accredited Paul Chek Holistic Lifestyle Coach 

Kinesiology

Although the combination of exercise and nutrition is vital and powerful we found it still couldn’t fix all of the issues our clients has and seeing how important our thoughts are in achieving good health led Susie to Kinesiology. She qualified in both Touch for Health and Total Body Modification types of kinesiology and has been practicing for over 20 year – with a wealth of experience meaning there are not many issues that she hasn’t come across, or can’t help with!

 Wellbeing Programmes for everyone 

Our 20 year journey of discovery through exercise, nutrition, holistic lifestyle coaching and kinesiology gives us a very holistic approach to wellbeing and has led us to where we are today. We have taken all of this knowledge and expertise to create models of empowerment for our clients wellbeing, educating and providing tools for their growth – both one on one in the studio and online. All of our programmes come from the premise that small lifestyle changes really can add up to big results and we work with our clients to educate, empower  and support them to make these changes for themselves.

Our programmes are holistic health programmes covering both mental and physical wellbeing and our objective is simple – to help and educate people to feel better look better and be better and to do it in a sustainable way.

We all know that when we feel better we do better in everything – our work, our family, our relationships, everything and that’s our objective for everyone.

Core to all of our wellbeing programmes are some simple philosophies: 

There are no quick fixes or beneficial fads that deliver sustainable results.
When we learn this, we are able to start looking at lifestyle and make real change both physically and mentally. Simple lifestyle changes add up to big results and sustainable results – it’s the only sensible way and the only way that is good for our bodies. 

We only do what is beneficial for a body. 
We don’t suggest you starve it and over exercise it – we respect and nurture it whilst getting fast results that your body needs for looking amazing and aging well. 

All bodies are different, one size never fits all; and bodies need different things at different times.

Change happens with knowledge and understanding.
If you don’t know why we are doing exercise or making life style changes you won’t be able to do it properly. Our objective is to create models of empowerment for wellbeing, educating and providing tools for growth. We can’t do it for you, but we can show you how and support you all the way!

We know what works and what is sustainable. We can test what works for each individual and personalise programmes We are 21 years young and have world renowned mentors. We are collective learners who discuss and share our leanings. This way we learn and grow faster.

Our beautiful founder Susie has trained in different Kinesiology modalities for 20+ years, and is a Master Pilates Trainer.

Kinesiology is one of the fastest growing and most interesting developments in modern natural healthcare. There are different types of Kinesiology, but they all use muscle testing as the basis for their work. Kinesiology can detect imbalances in the body's systems in four key areas:

Who can benefit from Kinesiology?

Everyone can benefit from babies to athletes, whether you’re injured, recovering from surgery, constantly unwell, emotionally unbalanced or just want to ensure your body is balanced by having regular checks. When someone cannot be muscle tested, either because they are perhaps too young or have paralysis, a surrogate may be used. 

What happens in a Kinesiology session?

You remain fully clothed. The Kinesiologist will place your arms, legs or head into specific positions and then apply gentle pressure. Muscle testing gives the Kinesiologist information and feedback from your body about its condition and can assess the order in which to treat the imbalances. A treatment plan may include nutritional supplements, emotional stress release techniques, acupressure, gentle structural realignment, firm reflex massage, suggested lifestyle changes and more.

The history of Kinesiology

The word Kinesiology comes from the Greek work kinesis, meaning motion. In the medical sciences it is the study of muscles and the movement of the body. Applied Kinesiology was the name given by its inventor, Dr George Goodheart, an American chiropractor, in 1965. Goodheart discovered that when a muscle was tested it could reveal vital information, which was sometimes impossible to determine by any other method. In the last 55 years, the body of knowledge on Kinesiology has developed rapidly.

Kinesiology uses the muscle - meridian relationship to evaluate body function and identify any issues like mineral deficiencies, food types to avoid, emotional issues and physical damage or impairment. Kinesiology is renowned as a way of uncovering and helping the underlying causes of health problems.
