How Metabolic Typing works
Once you understand what Metabolic Type you are, it's just a question of understanding what types of foods and in what balance best suit your body in order to establish some guidelines on what is best for you. It's not about what you can’t eat - this is an opportunity to make more informed nutrition decisions, that will lead to long term health benefits.
We can explain what are good nutrition choices for each Metabolic Type, and how to balance your food intake for both improved health and excess weight loss.
It’s important to learn how to eat for your metabolic type because the same foods that keep your friends slim may be making you puffy, tired and unhealthy. An often used analogy is one of a car. If you’ve got a petrol car and you fill it with diesel what happens? The same is true for our bodies – if we fill them with the ‘wrong’ fuel (food) they won’t work properly and lead to lethargy, weight gain and various health issues.
There are three different Metabolic Types: Carbohydrate, Protein and Mixed.
When you’re eating the right food for your metabolic type, you’ll feel and function better. Some reported benefits include increased energy levels, better mood and a stronger immune system. Weight loss can also be an added benefit. Generally, weight loss tends to be slow, gradual weight loss (and sustainable) – once you’re eating the right food for your type, your body metabolises the food you feed it more efficiently and can shed excess weight. Our blood sugar mechanism is critical to our ability to deal with food and stress, and eating for your metabolic type will put your body back in balance, re-instating your blood sugar mechanisms and ensuring that you are able to deal with both food and stress effectively.
